FIFA Imposes 17th Sanction on Zamalek and Suspends Registration for 3 Periods

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced a new sanction on Zamalek Club, which involves a transfer ban for three registration periods, according to what was stated on the federation's official website today, Wednesday, May 13.

FIFA merely referred to the decision without revealing additional details or clarifying the parties behind this action, which opened the door to questions about the accumulated cases against the club.

This new decision adds further complexity to Zamalek's situation, amidst a series of previous sanctions related to several financial issues with former players, coaches, and various clubs.

The International Federation had previously issued decisions to suspend registration against Zamalek in four cases related to the dues of former Portuguese coach José Gomes and his assistants, in addition to the case of Swiss coach Christian Gross, as well as the dues of Tunisian player Ferjani Sassi.

The White Club is also facing several other disputes with foreign clubs, including the Portuguese club Estrela da Amadora regarding the deal for Angolan Chico Banza, the Belgian club Charleroi concerning the deal for Palestinian Oday Dabbagh, as well as the case with the Moroccan club Renaissance Zemamra related to the Salah Mosadak deal.

The list also includes claims from the Ukrainian club Oleksandriya regarding the deal for Brazilian Juan Bezerra, as well as dues for Senegalese player Ibrahima Ndiaye, a former team member. Additionally, there is the case involving the French club Saint-Étienne related to the Moroccan Mahmoud Bentayg deal, claims from the Moroccan club Ittihad Tanger concerning the Abdelhamid Maali deal, and the case of former Belgian coach Yannick Ferrera.

This brings the total number of announced cases against Zamalek to 17 so far, including the recent transfer ban issued today.
