Moatamed Gamal: The Team Played a Great Match and We Will Secure the Championship in Cairo
Zamalek coach Moatamed Gamal confirmed that his team played a great match against Algeria's USM Alger in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final, noting that the White Knights will secure the title in the return match in Cairo.
USM Alger defeated Zamalek 1-0 in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final, which took place on Saturday evening at the July 5, 1962 Stadium in Algeria.
In the press conference following the match, Moatamed Gamal said: "An unexpected scenario, the result of the match was not anticipated. The team played a great game, noting that he does not wish to talk about the refereeing to avoid any penalties in the upcoming period. There is a return match in Cairo to decide the title."
He continued: "God willing, the championship will belong to Zamalek. The players delivered a great match, our defense was good, and the team performed well in transitions. We had more opportunities to score during the match, but the team will continue to work hard to secure the qualification for the next round. God willing, we will fight for the championship until the last minute."
He concluded: "The worst result for us is losing today's match," noting that he is surprised by the red card received by Mahmoud Bentayeg, in addition to the penalty kick. "The players' experience will make up for it in the upcoming return match."
