Giuliano Simeone: It Was a Sad Night, and We Didn't Achieve Our Goal
Atletico Madrid player Giuliano Simeone spoke after the loss to Arsenal in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final at Emirates Stadium, expressing his disappointment at being eliminated despite the team's fighting performance.
Giuliano said: "It was a very sad night. We thank the fans who came here, dedicated their time, and spent their money to support us."
He added, "We tried to give our best, but we couldn't achieve the goal of qualifying. We are sad and frustrated, but we must continue working."
Regarding the possibility of a penalty in his favor, he explained: "It was a very quick moment; I felt during the shot that there was a collision that unsettled me and prevented me from executing the shot well. Also, in some instances, the referee didn't even refer to the video technology, like in Griezmann's case, and the decisions were not in our favor."
Regarding his teammates Koke and Antoine Griezmann, he said: "We know well what they have contributed to the club, and they are as sad as any player at Atletico."
He concluded regarding Simeone's condition: "We haven't seen him yet."
