Inzaghi Opens Fire: They Wronged Inter.. If I Had Won the Champions League, I Would Have Stayed
Thursday 30-04-2026
Simone Inzaghi confirmed that his departure from Inter Milan was not planned before the Champions League final, emphasizing that he would have continued his project with the club if he had succeeded in winning the European title against Paris Saint-Germain.

The current coach of Al Hilal Saudi explained that the decision to leave was made just two days after the final, during a meeting with Giuseppe Marotta and the club's management, after feeling that the cycle had come to an end.

Inzaghi spoke angrily about the refereeing issue that has recently been raised in Italy, considering that Inter was "harmed, not benefited" by refereeing errors during the past season. He said his team lost many points in the league and the Super Cup due to influential decisions, while at the same time refusing to accuse any party of manipulation. However, he pointed out that everything went against his team in the season when they lost the title by just one point behind Napoli.

The Italian coach also revealed that the nights of victory over Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the Champions League will remain in his memory more than any championship, emphasizing that the dream of the treble was the team's greatest motivation.

He added that the physical and mental fatigue after losing the league significantly affected Inter's performance in the Munich final, allowing Paris Saint-Germain to settle the match early.

Regarding his experience in Saudi Arabia, Inzaghi denied that money was the main reason for his move to Al-Hilal, explaining that he wanted to embark on a new experience and face a different challenge away from Europe.

He also praised the work that Cristian Chivu is doing with Inter after him, considering that the club has strengthened the team excellently, especially after signing Manuel Akanji.
