Press reports have revealed details of three previous attempts for Colombian Luis Diaz to transfer to Barcelona, but they did not materialize for various reasons, most notably financial obstacles, according to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo."

According to the same source, the first attempt dates back to when Díaz was playing for Porto, during which he was being monitored by Barcelona's scouting management. However, he was excluded due to observations regarding his inconsistency in performance, despite having great technical abilities. The player's father previously stated that Díaz delivered outstanding performances in some matches, but he did not consistently maintain the same level.

After that phase, Diaz moved to Liverpool, leading to a second attempt during Xavi Hernandez's tenure as the coach of Barcelona, following his triumph in the Spanish league. The player's name reappeared among the interests of the Catalan club.

As for the third attempt, it was last summer when Hans Flick had also won the league title, and the sporting director Deco placed the Colombian player as the first choice to strengthen the team, ahead of Nico Williams and Marcus Rashford.

The source explained that Diaz's transfer during that period from Liverpool to Bayern Munich for £69 million posed a significant obstacle for Barcelona, which was unable to match that figure. Although the club saw the possibility of meeting the player's financial demands, the Financial Fair Play regulations would have made his registration a complicated matter.

The report also indicated that the summer of 2023 saw undisclosed movements, with club president Joan Laporta discussing in his private circle the possibility of signing Neymar or João Félix, while Luis Díaz was the unannounced option. However, he did not arrive due to Liverpool's high financial demands.

Ultimately, Barcelona signed João Félix, who wore the number 14 jersey, but he did not achieve the expected success. The report also noted the club's inability to sign Díaz, while they made an agreement with Atlético Paranaense to acquire Vitor Roque, which raised questions.
