Inter Milan Regrets 2-2 Draw with Torino
Sunday 26-04-2026
Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu admitted that his team feels "regret" after a 2-2 away draw against Torino, affirming that the home team's comeback "could have ended worse."

Kievo said in statements to Sky Sport Italia: "There is regret, we had the match in our hands and we suffered from their pressure in the final minutes."

He added: "The first goal unsettled us, and the second came as a result of that. We tried to respond and score to make it 3-2, but in such matches, you might also lose. Therefore, Torino should be given credit; they didn't give up and believed until the end."

The festive atmosphere was affected by news of an official investigation being opened against the head of referee appointments, Gianluca Rocchi, on charges of sports fraud, amid allegations of manipulating referee appointments in favor of Inter during the crucial stages of last season.

Regarding that, Kevo said: "I only talk about football. I am the coach, and my job is to prepare the team in the best way possible and to convey calmness and motivation."

He added: "Apparently, I didn't do my job as required when we were leading 2-0. I take responsibility, but that doesn't change much. We need three points and we want to settle things as soon as possible."

The coach explained that Hakan Çalhanoğlu was not fully ready, and Denzel Dumfries is still not ready, while Lautaro Martinez needs more time to recover.

He added, "I considered bringing Alessandro Bastoni on in the second half because he has trained with us three times, but entering such matches is not easy at this point in the season."

He continued: "When you're up 2-0, you think everything is easy and under control, but then you concede a goal due to a mistake in building play from the back, and that's when worries start to emerge and tension increases."

He concluded: "You realize then that it won't be easy, especially when some decisions go against you. In my opinion, their return could have ended much worse."

Inter is expected to clinch the league title in the next round if they defeat Parma at the San Siro, which is their former team's stadium.

The coach concluded: "I don't feel anything special, my full focus is on my work and duty. I just want to prepare the team in the best way to achieve our goal."
