Investigation with the Head of Referees Committee in Italy on Match-Fixing Charges
Reports, citing "Football Italia," confirm that Gianluca Rocchi, the head of the referees' committee in Italy, is currently under official investigation due to allegations related to sports manipulation during the 2024/2025 season.
According to reports, the investigation involves suspicions related to his influence on referee appointments in certain matches, as it is believed that he intervened in the selection of referee Andrea Colombo to officiate the Bologna vs. Inter match on April 20, 2025.
Sources explained that this appointment came due to Inter Milan's dissatisfaction with referee Daniele Doveri, which prompted the referees' committee, led by Rizzoli, to assign Doveri to officiate the Milan match in the semi-final of the Coppa Italia on April 23.
The report also mentioned other accusations against Rocky, including exceeding his authority in March 2025 while working as a video technology supervisor. He allegedly knocked on the control window and informed referee Daniele Paterna of the need to review an incident during the Udinese vs. Parma match in the Italian league.
Although referee Paterna did not want to review the incident with referee Fabio Maresca, who later awarded a penalty to Udinese, the report indicated that Paterna felt pressured by Rocchi during that incident.
According to the same sources, the investigation is still ongoing into all the accusations against the head of the referees' committee in Italian football, in one of the cases that has sparked widespread controversy in football circles.
