Fabregas: We Were Close to the Final, but We Are Proud of What We Achieved and Will Continue to Develop
Wednesday 22-04-2026
Cesc Fabregas, Como's coach, expressed his sadness after his team's loss to Inter Milan in the semi-finals of the Italian Cup, while also affirming his pride in his players' performance and the team's development despite being eliminated from the tournament.

Fabregas said: "After Calhanoglu's goal, the game changed. We are having a good season, and we fought to reach the final. I am calm, I knew the team would perform well and with a great sense of pride. We are still missing something, but we know that, and I know my players and their path well. We played against an experienced team that has been together for 6 years, and we continue on our path. It was important to see our reaction."

He continued: "I am not angry, just frustrated. Two years ago, we didn't have training fields, and now we are here. I was angry on Friday because of the performance against Sassuolo, but today is different. I watched an interview with Jürgen Klopp, one of the best coaches in history for me, where he said he lost his first 7 finals in his career. I am proud of this team, and all Inter players are starters in their national teams, and I do not blame my players for what they presented tonight."

He added: "We can improve in many aspects, we played against a very strong team, and they are excellent and their substitutions made the difference. We had some absences and missed some things."

He continued: "I don't know if it was due to a lack of energy or a lack of decisiveness at certain moments. We are one of the teams in Europe that relies most on players under 23 years old, and that is not easy. We will continue on our path."
