Kompany: Every Title Should Feel Like the First, It's About the Mentality
Sunday 19-04-2026
Belgian Vincent Kompany, the head coach of Bayern Munich, expressed his great happiness after winning the German league title for the 2025/2026 season, following a 4-2 victory over Stuttgart in the 30th round of the competition.

Kompany said: "It's a great feeling, and for me, it's very important that every title feels like the first, otherwise there's no point in being here at all."

He added: "These moments require a lot of work, and this work doesn't start just this season, it starts many years ago, then you reach this moment and you have to enjoy it. Yes, it requires a lot of effort, but you should also enjoy it when it is achieved."

He continued: "I definitely have intense emotions, and that's not a problem. Anyone who has seen me on the football field will understand that, but there is balance in everything."

He went on: "From this balance comes comfort for me, and at this moment I enjoy it completely, anything else is not important for me today, and starting tomorrow we return to work as usual."

Regarding breaking records this season, he said: "An amazing season, and it's not over yet, it's still ongoing. I think it's also about the mentality, I always like to mention that we won 4-0 in a friendly against Lyon, 4-0 against Tottenham, and we won in Zurich, and we won in Salzburg."

He explained: "These are all examples, the mentality is not to wonder when to exert effort and when to relax, we always have maximum energy, and we use the depth of the squad, and this gives us the ability to do so, that's how you enjoy football, and that's what we did this year."

He confirmed: "I want to continue enjoying, for me, this story doesn't end with one season, it always continues, and we can still win more titles and achieve records."

He pointed out: "We are now on April 19, and we are still in all competitions, we have suffered very few losses this season, and we have many moments of success, from every possible situation and with every player in the team."

He concluded his statements by saying: "We will go to Leverkusen knowing that anything can happen in football, but our belief in our ability is present, and this is very important in football."
