The Al-Ittihad team secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League for the elite after a hard-fought victory over Al-Wahda of the UAE with a 1-0 win, in a match that extended into extra time.

The decisive goal came from the Brazilian Fabinho, who scored from a penalty in the 120th+10 minute, granting his team a valuable victory at a critical moment.

With this victory, Al-Ittihad sets a date in the next round with the Japanese team Machida Zelvia, in an anticipated clash within the continental championship.

The first half saw a strong start from Al-Ittihad, as they attempted to assert their dominance early on and nearly opened the scoring with a shot from Stefan Keller that was deflected for a corner.

Al-Wehda launched a dangerous attack, during which Christian Benteke almost scored, but his header went over the crossbar, keeping the match tied.

In the second half, both teams exchanged control, with Al-Wehda coming close to scoring after a ball hit the post, before Al-Ittihad resumed pressure without converting opportunities into goals.

The attempts continued in extra time without any significant threat until the final moments, which saw a penalty awarded in favor of Al-Ittihad. Fabinho successfully converted it, securing the qualification ticket.
