The captain of the Algerian national team, Riyad Mahrez, has settled his future with the Saudi club Al-Ahli, putting an end to reports linking him with a return to Europe, specifically through the Turkish club Fenerbahçe.

This came after his contribution to his team's qualification for the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions League for the elite, by scoring a goal from a direct free kick against Al-Duhail during the second leg of the round of 16 on Monday evening.

Mahrez confirmed in media statements through the official broadcaster of the tournament his desire to continue his journey with Al-Ahly, saying: "We want to continue with Al-Ahly and remain part of the team," clearly indicating his intention to stay with the club.

The Algerian star has a contract with Al-Ahly that extends until June 2027, where he emphasized his full commitment to the team's project in the upcoming phase.

Mahrez also expressed his ambition to lead Al-Ahli in retaining their continental title, stating that the goal is for the club to remain at the pinnacle of Asian football and to win the AFC Champions League for the elite once again.

He concluded his remarks by expressing his happiness with the goal he scored, wishing to continue bringing joy to the club's fans, and affirming that he will continue to work hard to support the team in various local and continental tournaments.
