Kompany: We Want to Maintain the Same Strength and Respect Our Opponent Despite Their Ranking
Vincent Kompany, the head coach of Bayern Munich, spoke about the upcoming match against St. Pauli in the German league.
Bayern Munich is preparing to face St. Pauli as part of the 29th round of the competition, in a match where the team aims to continue its positive results.
Kompany said: "Honestly, I don't have all the details yet regarding the players' readiness, as I'm waiting for the latest information from training to assess their condition. However, I want a team that shows the same level of focus, motivation, and strength that we displayed against Real Madrid, and this is usually not a problem for us."
He added, "I want to assess the players' physical readiness so they can play against St. Pauli with the same energy they showed against Real Madrid. If we make changes, we don't want to lose what we've achieved so far."
He continued: "Harry Kane is in good condition after the match. He played through a lot of pain, but the next day there were no negative reactions, and that's what's most important. We have to look at what we've achieved this season, as we've reached this stage because the entire team participated."
He continued: "If we make one or two changes, it's something we've been accustomed to throughout the season. It might have been questioned in October or November, but after reaching this stage, it's no longer a topic of discussion. I don't think we'll change much against St. Pauli, but I'll make my decision this evening."
Regarding the opponent, he said: "Getting three points is the most important thing for us, but we have a lot of respect for St. Pauli. Their recent matches have always been tough; they defend with organization and strength. Sometimes it's hard to understand why they are at the bottom of the standings, as the gap between them and higher-ranked teams is not large."
Kompany concluded his remarks by saying: "I will not talk about Manuel Neuer's future out of respect for his career, but I can speak about what he has contributed to Bayern Munich, to himself, and to me personally. Initially, it was easier than I expected, with leaders like Neuer, Thomas Müller, and Kimmich, who made my job much easier."
