Amir Mortada Reveals Behind the Scenes of Imam Ashour's Departure
Tuesday 07-04-2026
Amir Mortada Mansour, the former supervisor of football at Zamalek Club, revealed details about Imam Ashour's departure, confirming that the club tried to retain the player with an attractive financial offer before his move abroad.

He explained that Zamalek received an offer from FC Midtjylland, which was accepted to maximize financial benefit, especially since the player had only one season left on his contract.

He added that the club's management made an offer to renew Imam Ashour's contract, which would have made him the highest-paid player on the team, in line with his technical abilities and expected development. He noted that this offer exceeded what the player currently earns with Al Ahly.

He pointed out that the player preferred to pursue an overseas professional experience, but he did not fully adapt, explaining that the differences in atmosphere and customs in Denmark played a role in this, compared to other culturally closer countries.

He concluded his statements by emphasizing that the player's return to Zamalek was not a logical option after his sale, especially since the deal occurred under difficult financial circumstances, with the proceeds directed towards settling dues for players and coaches, as well as resolving some ongoing disputes.
