Inter Milan Considers Calafiori as a Potential Replacement for Bastoni
Italian press reports revealed that Inter Milan has identified the Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori, an Arsenal player, as the primary option to compensate for the potential departure of Alessandro Bastoni during the upcoming summer transfer window, amidst Barcelona's interest in signing him.
According to the 'Football Italia' website, Inter's management is considering the scenario of letting go of Bastoni, who has become a primary target for the Catalan club to strengthen their defense, with a deal that could reach a value of 80 million euros.
The report indicated that Calafiori is considered the ideal option to replace Bastoni, given his ability to play in more than one position, whether as a central defender or a left-back, which aligns with the team's technical requirements.
It added that Arsenal does not mind selling the player for 50 million euros, which could provide them with a profit margin compared to the value of signing him in the summer of 2024, when he was acquired from Bologna for 43.7 million euros, in addition to incentives reaching up to 5 million euros.
The report clarified that Calafiori's participation with Arsenal this season has been relatively limited, as he has only played 29 official matches, due to injuries and strong competition within the team, which may facilitate the idea of his transfer in the upcoming period.
