Rodri Opens the Door to Joining Real Madrid
Thursday 26-03-2026
Manchester City and Spanish national team midfielder Rodri has opened the door to the possibility of transferring to Real Madrid, especially since his contract with the English club expires in the summer of 2027.

Rodri said in statements to the media: "The fact that I played for Atletico Madrid does not prevent me from playing for Real Madrid. You cannot refuse the best clubs in the world."

He added: "I have one year left on my contract, and at some point, we will have to sit down and talk. For me, I would like to return to Spain one day; this is obvious."

He continued: "Has anyone ever told you that the president of Real Madrid or the general manager of Real Madrid admires you? I don't know, I don't know. Anyway, they don't speak to me directly, but they would speak to my agent, wouldn't they?"

He continued, "The Ballon d'Or? I think they tried to pit Vinicius Junior and me against each other, but that's not the case at all. I have great respect for him and for everything he did that year as well. It's others who decide who wins the Ballon d'Or."

He concluded: "Elimination from the Champions League against Real Madrid? It doesn't matter if they come to the match in a good or bad moment for them, Real Madrid is always Real Madrid. I believe if it weren't for Silva's red card, we would have had a chance to qualify."
