Officially: Senegal Appeals to the Court of Arbitration for Sport Against CAF Decision
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) officially announced that it has received the Senegalese Football Federation's appeal against the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) decision to revoke Senegal's title as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations champion and award it to the Moroccan team.
CAF issued a controversial decision to strip Senegal of the title after their players withdrew in protest of a refereeing decision in the final match, resulting in Morocco being considered the winner with a score of 3-0.
The Senegalese appeal demands the annulment of the CAF decision and the return of the championship title to the Senegalese team, in addition to temporarily suspending the decision until a final ruling is made on the case.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed that it has received the appeal and will appoint an arbitration panel and set a schedule for proceedings to consider the case, amid widespread anticipation for the final decision and its impact on the African championship.
