Sunday 22-03-2026
The Mamelodi Sundowns team succeeded in securing their spot in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League, despite losing to their host, Stade Malien, 2-0 in the second leg of the quarter-finals.

The match was held in the Malian capital, Bamako, where the South African team benefited from their significant 3-0 victory in the first leg, advancing with an aggregate score of 3-2.

The match started quickly, with Thaddeus Nking opening the scoring early for Stade Malien, before Haman Mandian reinforced the lead with the second goal in the 40th minute.

The Malian team pressed during the second half in search of a third goal to bring the match back to a draw, especially after the Sundowns player Aubrey Modiba was sent off in the 77th minute. However, their attempts did not result in additional goals.

With this qualification, Mamelodi Sundowns will face Tunisian team Esperance in the semi-finals, in a match that carries a sense of revenge after their loss to the Tunisian team in the previous edition.

The winner of this match is expected to meet in the final with the victor of the Moroccan encounter between the Royal Army and Renaissance Berkane, in a battle for the continental championship title.
