Zamalek officials have decided to postpone the matter of extending midfielder Mohamed Shehata's contract until the end of the current season, despite his current contract with the team running until 2029.

According to "Youm7" website, the management of Zamalek preferred to postpone negotiations at the present time in order to focus on resolving the registration suspension issue, as well as the team's pursuit of competing for the Egyptian Premier League and the CAF Confederation Cup titles.

Mohamed Shehata joined Zamalek from Tala'ea El Gaish on a five-season contract, becoming one of the key players in the team's lineup in recent times.

The player enjoys the confidence of head coach Moatamed Gamal, as he is considered one of the key pillars in the midfield due to his consistent performance and regular participation.

Zamalek is preparing to face Congo's Otoho next Sunday in the second leg of the continental tournament's quarter-finals, after the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw.
