The Senegalese Federation Responds to the CAF Decision with an Official Statement
Wednesday 18-03-2026
The Senegalese Football Federation announced that it has reviewed today the decision of the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final that brought together the Senegalese team and its Moroccan counterpart.

According to this decision, the Appeals Committee announced the acceptance of the appeal from the Moroccan Football Federation and acknowledged its validity. On this basis, it canceled the previous decision issued by CAF's Disciplinary Committee, claiming that the appellant's right to be heard was not respected during the first instance proceedings.

The Appeals Committee also found that the behavior of the Senegalese team falls under articles 82 and 84 of the Africa Cup of Nations regulations. Accordingly, CAF announced that the Senegalese Federation violated article 82 and decided to consider the match forfeited by Senegal, with a 3-0 result in favor of Morocco, in application of article 84.

For its part, the Senegalese Federation condemned this decision, describing it as unfair, unprecedented, unacceptable, and damaging to the reputation of African football.

The Federation confirmed that, in defense of its rights and the interests of Senegalese football, it will promptly file an appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS).

The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of its steadfast commitment to the values of integrity and sporting justice, with a promise to keep the public informed of all developments related to this issue.
