Milan Determines Its Stance on Rafael Leão's Departure
Tuesday 17-03-2026
AC Milan's first football team suffered a defeat against its host Lazio with a score of 1-0, in the match held at the Stadio Olimpico in the Italian capital, Rome, as part of the 29th round of the Italian Serie A.

The Rossoneri failed to close the gap with the leader, as their points tally froze at 60 points in second place, trailing by 8 points behind the leading Inter Milan.

On the other hand, Lazio raised their points to 40, advancing to ninth place, noting that this loss is Milan's second against the same team this season, after being knocked out of the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia.

The match witnessed a controversial incident involving the Portuguese star Rafael Leão, who clearly objected to his coach Massimiliano Allegri's decision to substitute him during the match.

Team captain and goalkeeper Mike Maignan intervened to contain the situation, as he approached Leão to urge him to leave the field quickly, to avoid wasting time and escalating the issue in front of the cameras.

Following this incident, Italian press reports revealed surprising developments regarding the player's future, as the 'Tutto Mercato' website reported that Milan's management has become open to the idea of selling Leão's contract during the upcoming transfer window.

The report indicated that club officials are no longer satisfied with the player's repeated behavior and lack of discipline in dealing with the coaching staff's decisions, confirming that the management's patience has run out waiting for him to reach the required maturity to represent the team.

Although the player's contract extends until the summer of 2028, the idea of his departure has become strongly proposed for discussion within the club.

In the context of the league competition, Inter Milan is preparing to face a strong challenge against Fiorentina away, in a difficult test to maintain the lead.

Meanwhile, Milan seeks to regain its balance and reconcile with its fans, as it hosts Torino at the San Siro, in an attempt to return to the path of victories.
