Esperance de Tunis secured a victory over their Egyptian counterpart Al Ahly with a 1-0 win in the match held on Sunday evening at the Hammadi Agrebi Olympic Stadium in Rades, in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.
Mohamed Amine Tougai scored the goal for Esperance from a penalty kick in the 72nd minute.
Al-Ahly qualified for this round after topping the standings of Group B with 10 points.
Meanwhile, Tunisian club Espérance qualified after securing second place in the Group D standings with 9 points.
The second leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-final between Al Ahly and Esperance will be held at Cairo International Stadium next Saturday, March 21.
