Officially.. Ashley Cole Begins His Career as Head Coach with Cesena
The Italian club Cesena officially announced the appointment of former English star Ashley Cole as the new head coach of the first team, replacing coach Michele Mignani, who was recently dismissed following the team's declining performance in the Italian Serie B.
The club clarified in its official statement that Cole signed a contract extending until June 30, 2026, with an option for extension, marking his first experience as a head coach in his career after years of working within the technical staff of several clubs and national teams.
Cole is considered one of the most prominent defenders in the history of English football, having shone during his career with Arsenal and Chelsea. He won numerous titles, including the Premier League three times, the FA Cup seven times, as well as the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League with Chelsea.
The former defender also played 107 international matches with the England national team and participated in several major tournaments before retiring from football in 2019 and transitioning to coaching. He is now embarking on his first experience as a head coach with Cesena in the Italian Serie B.
