Kimmich Criticizes Diaz's Dismissal Against Leverkusen
Joshua Kimmich, Bayern Munich player, criticized the referee's decision to send off his teammate Luis Diaz during the match against Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, asserting that the incident preceding the second card did not warrant a fall being considered as simulation.
Kimmich said in his statements after the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw, that there was clear contact between Diaz and goalkeeper Yanis Blaswich, which makes the decision to issue a yellow card for diving unjustified in his view.
The German player explained: "For me, a yellow card cannot be issued for simulation in that situation. There was contact with Blaswich's foot, and Diaz got up immediately after the fall."
Kimmich added: "I'm not saying it was a penalty, but at least it shouldn't have been a yellow card," referring to the refereeing controversy that accompanied the match between Bayern and Leverkusen.
