Madueke: We Were Not at Our Best, Confident of Winning in London
Arsenal star Noni Madueke appeared in press statements, following the 1-1 draw against Leverkusen in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, at the BayArena.
The player said in his remarks: "We are confident of achieving victory in London. The coach told us: go down and try to change the course of the match."
Regarding the penalty kick he received: "I don't know exactly what happened [regarding the penalty], all I know is that I felt the contact, fell to the ground, and the penalty was awarded."
He emphasized: "Kai Havertz has always scored penalties under great pressure throughout his career, and he showed great composure when taking it. I am very happy not only for him but for the whole team."
He added: "When you enter the field and your team is trailing, it gives you extra motivation to try to change the situation."
He stressed: "When you score an equalizing goal in the last minute, that is a positive thing. There are some things we could have done better today, and we are aware of that."
He concluded: "I felt we were not at our best today in terms of ball possession. These are things we will work on improving, and we will definitely show them in London."
