Arsenal secured a dramatic 1-1 draw against their host Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match held at the BayArena.

The scoring began with the start of the second half, as Bayer Leverkusen player Robert Andrich managed to open the score in the 46th minute following a cross from a corner kick executed by Alejandro Grimaldo, which Andrich converted with a powerful header into the net of goalkeeper David Raya.

The German team remained in the lead until the final minutes, before the referee awarded a penalty to Arsenal in the 88th minute after Noni Madueke was fouled inside the penalty area. Kai Havertz successfully converted it, scoring the equalizing goal for the Gunners.

With this result, the decision on the qualification ticket is postponed to the second leg match, which will take place next week at the Emirates Stadium in London, where both teams aim to secure their passage to the quarter-finals.
