Students' Coach: I Lived the Hardest Week of My Life in Iraq!
The current season of the Iraq Stars League witnessed great challenges for the Students team, which is considered one of the prominent clubs in the championship, especially in light of the financial crisis the club is experiencing due to the delay in paying players' dues.
Despite these difficulties, the Students team managed to achieve a valuable victory over its host, Al-Qasim, with two goals to nil, strengthening its position in third place with 40 points, 9 points away from the leader.
Iranian coach Ali Reza Mansourian said in press statements: "The match against Al-Qasim was extremely difficult, especially since the team played the match without conducting any training due to the players' strike in recent days." He added: "The players refrained from training in protest against the delay in paying their financial dues from the Ministry of Higher Education, which clearly affected the team's preparations, but we managed to achieve victory in a wonderful way."
Mansourian confirmed: "In my coaching career, I have not experienced anything similar to what I faced with the Students. Last week was the hardest for me, and what is happening to the club is truly unfortunate for a prestigious team like the Students, and this crisis must be resolved quickly."
The coach called on officials to intervene: "I have received a promise from the players to return to training and work hard, but the continuation of the current financial situation will inevitably affect performance levels and the team's results, so we need the cooperation of all parties to ensure the team's continued success this season."
Mansourian had taken over the Students' coaching position, succeeding Qatari coach Talal Al-Bloushi, who left the team after the club's management failed to meet financial commitments on time.
The Students have been able to make a strong comeback in the competition this season, after making a series of distinguished deals at the level of local and professional players, making them a strong contender for the league title alongside the Air Force and Police teams.
