The final of the Campeonato Mineiro witnessed heated events after a mass brawl overshadowed the match in which Cruzeiro defeated their rival Atlético Mineiro 1-0, in the game held on Sunday evening.

The crisis began following a late intervention by Atlético Mineiro player Cristian Pavón on Cruzeiro goalkeeper Cássio, which led to a clash between the players, with the goalkeeper pushing his opponent before pinning him down with his knees.

The situation quickly escalated after several players from both teams, including those on the bench, got involved in the scuffle, turning the match into a brawl on the field.

Security and police officers were forced to intervene to control the situation, and it took several minutes before calm was restored to the stadium.

In his report following the match, referee Matheus Candansan stated that he issued a total of 23 red cards, with 12 given to Cruzeiro players and 11 to Atlético Mineiro players, noting that goalkeeper Cássio acted violently during the incident.
