The Qatari capital, Doha, remains the primary candidate to host the Finalissima tournament, despite the emergence of several alternatives in recent days, which both CONMEBOL and UEFA were quick to deny.

The final decision on the venue for the Finalissima is expected to be made by the end of this week, according to a joint statement from the two federations, while the organizers have tried to buy some time to monitor developments in Qatar.

However, the gradual reopening of the airspace and the return of local competitions provide positive indications that Qatar may retain the hosting of the Finalissima match in addition to five other matches as part of the football festival in Qatar, as initially planned.
