Duhok achieved an important victory over its guest Al-Shorta with a score of (2-1) in the match that brought them together as part of the 21st round of the Iraqi Stars League, allowing the Mountain Hawks to collect three valuable points in front of their fans at Duhok Stadium.

The two teams entered the match with a fast pace from the first minutes, with Duhok showing a clear desire to impose its style, benefiting from the home ground and crowd. The hosts did not wait long to open the scoring, as player Peter Georges managed to find the net in the 11th minute, giving his team the lead amid great joy in the stands of Duhok Stadium.

After the goal, Al-Shorta tried to organize its ranks and return to the atmosphere of the match, but Duhok's defense succeeded in dealing with the guests' offensive attempts, allowing the hosts to maintain their lead until the end of the first half, which ended with Duhok leading by one goal to none.

With the start of the second half, Al-Shorta intensified its offensive attempts in search of equalizing the score, benefiting from the movements of its players in the front line. The team succeeded in achieving the equalizer in the 71st minute when striker Lionel Atiba scored a goal that brought the match back to square one and reignited the atmosphere of the encounter.

Despite the equalizing goal, Duhok did not retreat but continued its offensive attempts, benefiting from the crowd support, to snatch the winning goal in the final minutes. In the 86th minute, player Youssef Al-Imam managed to score the second goal for the hosts, giving his team the lead again before the end of the match.

Al-Shorta tried to achieve the equalizer in the remaining minutes, but Duhok's defense maintained its lead until the referee blew the final whistle, announcing the victory of the hosts.

With this victory, Duhok raised its tally to 30 points to advance to ninth place in the standings, while Al-Shorta's tally froze at 44 points in second place, five points behind the leader Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya.
