Al-Zawraa achieved a valuable and difficult victory over its host Nawroz with a score of (2-1), in the match that brought them together within the 21st round of the Iraqi Stars League, bringing the Al-Nawaris back to the path of victories after a series of unsatisfactory results in the past rounds.

The first half witnessed a relatively calm start from both sides, with the initial minutes characterized by tactical caution and a low pace of play, with limited attempts on both goals without clear dangerous opportunities, as each team desired to gradually impose its style on the field.

Despite the slow start, Al-Zawraa managed to open the scoring early in the 13th minute through its player Akam Hashim, who gave his team the lead and ignited the atmosphere of the match, putting the Al-Nawaris in a relatively comfortable position from the early minutes.

After the goal, the Nawroz team tried to return to the atmosphere of the match, gradually increasing the pace of its attacks in search of equalizing the score, which was achieved in the 30th minute when player Neto Akara managed to score the equalizing goal for his team, bringing the match back to square one and giving his team a moral boost before the end of the first half.

The attempts of both teams continued after the equalizing goal, but the result remained the same until the referee blew the whistle for the end of the first half with a positive draw of one goal for each team.

In the second half, the pace of the match increased noticeably, as each team sought to score the leading goal and decide the confrontation, with the following minutes witnessing a great struggle in the midfield with some mutual attacking attempts.

As the match approached its end, Al-Zawraa managed to snatch the winning goal at a crucial time, when striker Bryan Riascos scored the second goal for the Al-Nawaris in the 88th minute, giving his team a precious lead before the final whistle.

Nawroz tried in the remaining minutes to come back with the score, but Al-Zawraa's defense succeeded in maintaining their lead until the end of the match.

With this victory, Al-Zawraa raised its tally to 35 points, advancing to the eighth position in the league standings, returning to achieving victory after stumbling in three previous matches, while Nawroz's tally froze at 25 points in the 13th position.
