Al Hilal Sweeps Al Shabab with Five Goals on Derby Night
Al-Hilal team swept their counterpart Al-Shabab with a score of five goals to three in the thrilling match that brought them together at the "SHG Arena" as part of the twenty-fourth round of the Saudi Professional League.
Coach Simone Inzaghi entered the match with a starting lineup that included Yassine Bounou, Theo Hernandez, Ali Lajami, Kalidou Koulibaly, Muteb Al-Harbi, Sergej Savic, Ruben Neves, Mohammed Kanoo, Sultan Mandash, Marcos Leonardo, and Simon Bouabri.
The youth team took the lead in the 13th minute through Josh Brownhill, before Al Hilal quickly responded with an equalizer by Mohammed Kanno in the 19th minute, taking advantage of defensive confusion inside the area.
In the 31st minute, Al Hilal scored a second goal through an own goal after a cross that Ali Al-Bulaihi failed to clear. However, Abderrazak Hamdallah brought Al Shabab back into the match with an equalizing goal in the 44th minute.
Before the whistle blew to end the first half, Kalidou Koulibaly gave Al Hilal the lead with a third goal during injury time, ending the first half with the Blues ahead 3-2.
With the start of the second half, Sultan Mandash added the fourth goal in the 48th minute, then Marcos Leonardo strengthened the lead with the fifth in the 52nd minute, while Yacine Adli reduced the deficit for Al-Shabab with a third goal in the 75th minute.
Al-Hilal increased its tally to 58 points, placing it third in the Saudi League standings, while Al-Shabab's tally remained at 25 points, placing them in thirteenth.
