Moamen Soliman Sets Date for His Departure from Al-Shorta
Sunday 22-02-2026
Moamen Soliman, the coach of Iraqi club Al-Shorta, sparked wide controversy with direct comments in response to criticism from the team's fans recently, confirming that his departure is imminent despite improved results.

Al-Shorta won against their rival Diyala with a score of 2-1 yesterday, Saturday, in a match held at the Al-Shorta stadium as part of the 19th round of the Iraqi Stars League, bringing the team closer to the top of the standings.

Soliman responded to the fans who criticized him on one of Al-Shorta's pages by saying: "You will get rid of Moamen Soliman and his crazy ideas in two months," clearly indicating that his experience with the team may not last long.

The Egyptian coach added: "I hope that beloved Al-Shorta will be blessed with a coach better than me," in a statement that carried an emotional tone and an early farewell message to the Green Harp fans.

These statements come amid differing opinions among Al-Shorta fans about the team's performance and results, with some believing that the Egyptian coach needs more time to establish his ideas, while others think that the next phase requires a technical change to restore the team to its usual level.

The coach's future remains tied to the team's results in the upcoming phase, which will largely determine the technical staff's path with one of the most prominent clubs in the Iraqi Stars League, especially since Al-Shorta still has two postponed matches so far.

After the match ended, Soliman commented on the result in the press conference, saying: "Thank God, we achieved three important points, and Diyala played a great match, and the confrontation was enjoyable for the followers. Today, we are very close to the top and have started to gradually regain our strength."

He continued: "Diyala is a team that managed to establish its presence strongly in the league, and we expect a good future for them, as they have a distinguished technical staff and a group of diligent players who make a difference in difficult matches, and I congratulate them on their performance."

He added: "Our team did not show the required physical level in some periods of the match, and we need to work and correct mistakes. I am confident in the players' ability to double their efforts and continuously work on improving the team's situation to win the title."

Despite having two postponed matches, Al-Shorta occupies second place in the Iraqi Stars League standings with 38 points, trailing by 5 points behind the leader Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya.
