A Gesture from the Premier League Association During Ramadan
Monday 16-02-2026
The British network "BBC Sport" revealed that the English Premier League has decided to temporarily stop matches during the Maghrib call to prayer during the holy month of Ramadan, in order to give Muslim players the opportunity to break their fast.

According to the report from Britain, the measure will be implemented during Premier League matches in the month of Ramadan, where the referee will briefly pause the game at the time of Iftar before resuming the match normally.

This step by the Premier League comes as part of considering religious and cultural diversity within the competition, especially with the presence of a number of Muslim players in the English Premier League clubs.

It is noted that this measure has been applied in previous seasons and does not affect the timing of the start of matches. It is limited to a short pause during the game when it is time for iftar.
