Thursday 12-02-2026
Journalist Sami Moqbel reported that Jamaican international Michail Antonio held preliminary talks with Charlton Athletic about the possibility of returning to play after being involved in a horrific car accident that nearly cost him his life, resulting in multiple fractures in his legs.

These talks are described as exploratory at this stage, according to the journalist working for the renowned British network BBC.

Antonio, aged 35, is known as a former forward for West Ham United, where he is considered one of the team's top scorers in the English Premier League. He has also been representing the Jamaican national team since 2021.

Antonio began his professional career with clubs like Reading and Sheffield Wednesday before joining West Ham in 2015, where he became a key part of the team's attack.

In December 2024, Antonio was involved in a serious car accident, which he described as "near-death," resulting in multiple fractures in his legs and requiring urgent surgeries. Despite this, the player expressed a strong determination to return to playing and underwent an intensive rehabilitation period.
