Spalletti: We Made the Wrong Choices, and Atalanta Decided the Match in Crucial Moments
Friday 06-02-2026
Luciano Spalletti, the Juventus coach, admitted that his team deserved the 3-0 loss against Atalanta in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia, affirming that the difference was decided by crucial decisions within the match.

Spalletti said: "Atalanta was better than us in the crucial moments, and when you lose 3-0, there's not much to say. We congratulate Atalanta; they are a well-organized team and play exceptional football."

He added: "When the match became difficult, we made the wrong choices, while they made the right ones. There are moments when numbers and statistics dominate, but when the match becomes real, quick and accurate decisions must be made, and we failed in that."

Spalletti pointed out a recurring issue this season, saying: "There were spaces to create a numerical advantage, but we chose the wrong solutions. Sometimes we lack experience and mental sharpness in recognizing crucial situations, and this keeps happening to us."

He concluded his remarks by talking about the result, saying: "The result does not reflect the number of opportunities in the match. What I didn't like was that we lost our organization in the final minutes, and each player tried to solve things individually, which cost us our unity on the field."
