Milan Reaches Agreement with Crystal Palace to Sign Mateta
The Italian newspaper 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' revealed that AC Milan has reached an agreement with English club Crystal Palace to sign French striker Jean-Philippe Mateta for 30 million euros, in a move aimed at strengthening the attacking line during the current winter transfer window.
According to the same source, the Rossoneri made significant progress in negotiations over the past few hours, reaching a preliminary agreement with the English club, as Mateta prefers to move to San Siro instead of joining Nottingham Forest, which has shown strong interest in signing him.
The report indicated that Milan is pushing to finalize the deal before the transfer window closes, but Crystal Palace ties the final approval of Mateta's departure to securing a suitable replacement. In this context, the newspaper explained that the London club is negotiating with Wolverhampton to sign Norwegian striker Jørgen Strand Larsen.
The newspaper added that Mateta has reached a preliminary agreement with Milan regarding personal terms, under which he would receive a salary ranging between 3 and 3.5 million euros annually, along with additional bonuses.
Milan's move to sign Mateta comes after they have already made an offensive signing in January by acquiring striker Niclas Füllkrug from West Ham, as part of the club's plan to enhance its attacking capabilities in the second half of the season.
