Youth Blocks the Path for the Union and Clashes with Yannick Carrasco's Desire
Thursday 29-01-2026
Al-Shabab Club has settled the ongoing debate about the future of its Belgian star Yannick Carrasco, following increasing reports about the possibility of his departure during the current winter transfer window.

Carrasco wishes to move to the Italian club Roma, preferring to embark on a new European experience on loan until the end of the season, as he seeks to leave the Saudi league.

The Belgian player rejected the idea of transferring to Al-Ittihad Jeddah, despite serious attempts by the club's management, insisting on choosing Roma as his first destination in the next phase.

The union's efforts to finalize the deal are still ongoing, but Carrasco has set a fundamental condition of signing a contract for no less than two years to agree to the move.

For his part, Nawaf Al-Bassam, Vice President of Al-Shabab Club, confirmed to the "Al-Riyadiyah" newspaper that the player will continue with the team, emphasizing: "Carrasco is present and will remain with Al-Shabab."

Carrasco is 32 years old and joined Al-Shabab in the summer of 2023 from Atlético Madrid, Spain, with a contract extending for three seasons.

The Belgian star participated with Al-Shabab in 62 matches across various competitions, during which he scored 22 goals and provided 16 assists, making him one of the team's key offensive players.
