The German star Leon Goretzka spoke to Die Zeit about his future with Bayern Munich, after a difficult period he experienced within the club, where he remains a candidate for departure amidst increasing reports of Atletico Madrid's attempts to sign him.

Regarding his approaching thirty-first birthday next February, and whether that represents the last big opportunity for a transfer, Goretzka acknowledged that exploring a new experience remains a possibility. He added: "The idea of playing outside Germany interests me. I thought about it twice before, but I chose to stay out of conviction. I know I am in a comfort zone in Munich, and stepping out of it could be an important step in my personal development."

The international midfielder confirmed that experiencing something new outside Bayern could add a lot to his career and life, explaining that getting to know a different environment and experiencing a new football culture can be enriching on both professional and human levels.

Regarding rumors about his contact with other clubs, Goretzka categorically denied reports of his communication with Hansi Flick in Barcelona, saying: "I read that I contacted Hansi Flick in Barcelona, and I can deny that here and now."
