Significant Pressure from Carrasco's Representatives on Al-Shabab Management to Approve Roma's Offer
The representatives of Belgian Yannick Carrasco, the winger for Al-Shabab team, pressured the club's management to accept the offer from Italian club Roma during the current winter transfer window to avoid high financial repercussions on the club's treasury.
Informed sources revealed that Carrasco's contract, which expires next summer, includes a clause for automatic extension by an additional year if he participates in more than 50% of the season's matches, which he has already achieved. This will increase the financial burden on Al-Shabab.
The sources clarified that the player's continued presence might be recorded under the club's budget instead of the league association's budget, which would cost Al-Shabab's treasury a significant amount, especially since his salaries are currently paid through the recruitment committee of the Professional League Association.
The sources added that the annual value of Carrasco's salary is estimated at around 14 million euros, while Al-Shabab will be exempt from paying this amount if he transfers to Roma. Additionally, the club will benefit from the one million euro value of the offer presented.
Sources indicated that the final decision regarding the player's future is expected to become clear in the coming days after a comprehensive review by the youth management of all financial and technical aspects related to the deal.
Carrasco, aged 32, joined the ranks of Al-Shabab in the summer of 2023, coming from Spanish club Atlético Madrid with a three-year contract. He played 62 matches with the team, during which he scored 22 goals and assisted 16 others.
