Belgian Yannick Carrasco, the star of the Saudi Al-Shabab team, is looking to open a new chapter in his career by returning to European football through the Italian club Roma during the current winter transfer window.

The Italian newspaper "Corriere dello Sport" reported that Roma's management continues its moves in the transfer market, with Carrasco's name being among the top options considered to strengthen the capital team's lineup.

Carrasco expressed a clear desire to move to Rome, willing to significantly reduce his salary, with the aim of regaining his European presence before the upcoming World Cup with the Belgian national team.

The youth wing took practical steps towards a return by reaching out to his former teammate at Atletico Madrid, Hermoso, to inquire about the club's atmosphere, a strong indication of his serious desire.

AS Roma prefers to acquire the player on a loan basis with an option to buy, while Al-Shabab leans towards a permanent sale during the current period.

The report clarified that the financial aspect does not represent a real obstacle, especially since Carrasco is open to reducing his annual salary of 13 million euros in Saudi Arabia.

Carrasco, aged 32, joined Al-Shabab in the summer of 2023 from Atletico Madrid on a contract until 2027. This season, he participated in 17 matches, scoring 9 goals and providing 3 assists.
