Monday 19-01-2026
The African Football Confederation (CAF) issued an official statement strongly condemning the unacceptable behavior exhibited by some players and officials during the Africa Cup of Nations final between the Moroccan and Senegalese teams, affirming that what happened contradicts the values of football and the spirit of fair competition.

The final match witnessed widespread refereeing controversy, as the Senegalese players and members of the coaching staff strongly objected to the penalty awarded by the referee in favor of the Moroccan team. This led to protests on the field and moments of tension during the game. Despite these objections, the Senegalese team managed to secure the victory and claim the continental title by scoring the winning goal in extra time.

In its statement, CAF strongly emphasized its firm rejection of any inappropriate behavior occurring during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or the match organizers, considering that such conduct damages the image of the continental tournament and African football in general.

The African Football Confederation confirmed that it has begun reviewing all video footage related to the events of the final match, noting that the case will be referred to the relevant authorities to take appropriate disciplinary actions against anyone found responsible, in accordance with the applicable regulations, in order to maintain discipline and the integrity of the competition.
