English club Liverpool commented on the outstanding performance of their player Mohamed Salah in yesterday's match against Ivory Coast.
The Egyptian national team defeated the Ivory Coast team 3-2 in the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations, advancing the Pharaohs to the semifinals.
The official Liverpool club website wrote: "Mohamed Salah scored one goal and assisted another on Saturday to lead Egypt to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations. The Pharaohs defeated the defending champions, Ivory Coast, 3-2 in the quarter-final match held in Agadir, with Mohamed Salah scoring the third goal for his national team."
He added: "Omar Marmoush opened the scoring after four minutes, before Rami Rabia added a goal with a header from a corner kick taken by Mohamed Salah, strengthening Egypt's lead to two clean goals in the middle of the first half."
He continued: "Ahmed Fattouh accidentally scored the first goal for Ivory Coast just before the end of the first half, but Mohamed Salah restored the two-goal lead shortly after the start of the second half, bringing his total in the tournament to four goals in four matches."
He concluded: "Joila Douy reduced the gap for Ivory Coast, igniting excitement in the final minutes, but Hossam Hassan's team maintained their lead to face Senegal in the next round on Wednesday."
