Due to Injuries.. Manchester City Intensifies Interest in Signing Guehi
Wednesday 07-01-2026
According to press reports, Manchester City has become one of the leading clubs interested in signing Crystal Palace captain and English defender Marc Guehi during the current transfer window, amid the team's clear struggles in defense.

According to BBC Sport, Manchester City is considering making a move to sign Gvardiol after both Gvardiol and Ruben Dias suffered injuries during the recent match against Chelsea, in addition to John Stones' continued absence due to injury.

The report explained that Manchester City’s management will wait to learn the final details of Gvardiol and Diaz’s injuries before making a final decision on completing the deal in January. However, sources confirmed to BBC Sport that the club’s interest in the 25-year-old defender has significantly increased, and signing him during the winter transfer window remains a viable option.

As part of addressing the shortage in numbers, Manchester City recalled the young defender Max Allen from his loan at Watford, making him available as an option for the team in the upcoming period.

The same source indicated that Jaehi's contract with Crystal Palace expires at the end of the season, making him a target of several European clubs, most notably Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Atlético Madrid, with the possibility of him signing a preliminary agreement with a club outside England starting this month.

The report also pointed out that Crystal Palace may consider selling their captain in January to avoid losing him on a free transfer in the summer, especially given the interest from Manchester City and Liverpool, who are closely monitoring the player's situation.

Jèhi, who has played 26 international matches with the England national team, is considered one of the top defenders in the English Premier League, making him a strong candidate to strengthen Manchester City's defense in the upcoming phase.
