Jacopo: I Thought My Goal Secured the Win, but Bad Luck Deprived Us of Victory
Liverpool striker Cody Jacopo commented on the tough 2-2 draw his team managed against Fulham this evening, during the 20th round of the English Premier League, at Craven Cottage stadium.
Jacopo said: "Yes, that's right, I thought my goal was the winning goal, but they scored at the moment I sat on the bench. It's frustrating for us."
He added: "We fought fiercely in the second half, controlled the flow of the game at times, and tried to create scoring chances. In the end, I scored in the 95th minute, and they scored in the 97th. Honestly, it was a great goal. It's unfortunate and reflects bad luck."
He continued: "This is a moment that can happen in any match. I was just about to sit on the bench after scoring, so I didn't see the moments leading up to the goal well. I only saw him touch the ball and shoot it into the top corner of the net."
He explained: "If we wanted to analyze the match, we could have scored more goals or defended better against the two goals we conceded. In the end, we should have delivered a much better performance, but there were moments where we showed the quality of our team, and we must maintain consistent performance to achieve more victories."
Regarding his role as a striker, Jacopo said: "As a forward, I always aim to score goals to help the team, and that is positive for me. Ultimately, it's a team game, and since we didn't win, I still feel disappointed."
