Barcelona Considers Signing Julian Ryerson
Friday 02-01-2026
Barcelona continues its search to strengthen the right flank, with close monitoring of Borussia Dortmund player Julian Ryerson over the past weeks, according to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo".

Ryerson joined Dortmund in 2023 coming from Union Berlin, after his first experience outside Norway. He has a contract until 2028 and a market value of around 20 million euros.

The newspaper pointed out that Ryerson's good performance has prevented Jan-Kevin Augustin, who joined from Manchester City for 20 million euros, from establishing himself in Dortmund's lineup. Ryerson also has extensive experience in European competitions.

Ryerson is considered more offensive than Koundé, as he touches the ball more in the attacking third, attempts more crosses, and delivers key passes, giving him an advantage in offensive support compared to Koundé.

Ryerson remains one of the options Barcelona is studying to strengthen the right flank, alongside other players such as João Cancelo. The Norwegian has the ability to execute set pieces and apply forward pressure, while the club's current priorities remain seeking a left defender or versatile players. At the same time, Barcelona continues to study future names like Ryerson to ensure the team is strengthened in the medium term.
