Global media reports have revealed an upcoming battle between Manchester City and Liverpool to sign the Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo, a Bournemouth player, during the next winter transfer window.

Semenyo is 25 years old and is under contract with Bournemouth until 2030, which includes a clause allowing his departure for £65 million, with the possibility of reducing the release clause to £60 million starting next summer.

Sky Sports network reported that Manchester City has already started official talks with Bournemouth to activate the release clause, in an attempt to finalize the deal before the end of January.

The network added that Manchester City has reached an agreement with the player on personal terms, as the player's conditions were not an issue for Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Liverpool is preparing to intensify its negotiations to sign the player, led by sporting director Richard Hughes, who previously worked with Semenyo during his time at Bournemouth and was the decision-maker behind signing him in 2023. Liverpool hopes to strengthen its attacking line, which has been affected by numerous injuries, by signing the Ghanaian winger, who has been performing impressively this season.

Semenyo has participated in 17 matches with Bournemouth in domestic competitions, scoring 8 goals and providing 3 assists, confirming his value as an influential attacking player.
