Riyad Mahrez Praises the Atmosphere in Morocco and Affirms the Team's Readiness

Riyad Mahrez, captain of the Algerian national football team, expressed his satisfaction with the atmosphere that accompanied the "Greens" delegation since their arrival in Morocco to participate in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals, affirming that the warm reception contributed to providing suitable conditions for preparing for the tournament.

During the press conference before the start of the Algerian team's journey in the continental competition, Mahrez explained that being in Morocco carries a special character, without affecting his focus on the field, stressing that the main goal is to represent Algeria in a proper manner.

The "Greens" captain pointed out that the positive atmosphere the team found reflects the good relations between the two peoples, explaining that playing the tournament in a neighboring country gives the players a sense of comfort and helps them focus on the technical aspects.

Regarding the opening match against Sudan, Mahrez confirmed that the Algerian team enters the tournament with strong determination to compensate for the negative results in the previous two editions, clarifying that the past is behind them and that the focus is now on the present and building a new phase.

He added that the current squad includes a number of young players eager to prove themselves, which gives the team additional vitality and a strong motivation to achieve a successful start in the tournament.

Mahrez concluded his statements by affirming that the Algerian team is aware of the great responsibility on its shoulders, pointing out that the team is required to show its character on the pitch without looking for excuses, given the good readiness and full preparation for the challenge.

The Algerian team will open its participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals by facing Sudan at the Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, before meeting Burkina Faso in the second round, then Equatorial Guinea in the last round of the group stage.
