Three Reasons Behind the Police's Resounding Defeat to Al-Ahli in the Champions League
Tuesday 23-12-2025
The Police team suffered a heavy 5-0 loss to their guest Al-Ahli Saudi, within the framework of the current 2025-2026 Elite Asian Champions League season.

The two teams faced each other at Al-Zawraa Stadium in the capital Baghdad, as part of the sixth round of the tournament, in which the Police club has not yet achieved any victory.

This result came to complete a series of heavy defeats for the Iraqi league champion against Saudi clubs, with three main reasons behind this resounding fall of the sons of the Green Harp.

First, the large technical differences, as Al-Ahli possesses distinguished players and prominent stars, whom any coach in the world would wish to have, as said by the Egyptian Police coach Moamen Suleiman.

Despite Police's diligence and attempts to keep up with their Saudi rival, they found themselves lost against Al-Ahli, who controlled the match as they wished, while the Iraqi team was merely watching. Thus, the factor of technical differences was decisive and gave a great advantage to Al-Ahli club.

Second, the Saudi clubs' complex: the Iraqi team appears shaky whenever it faces a team from the Roshn Saudi League, with results being large and revealing many flaws in the team.

Police club faced the three Saudi clubs—Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, and Al-Ahli—conceding 13 goals in three matches, while scoring only one goal. Despite the strength of the competing teams, Police showed no reaction or movement in these matches, always surrendering.

Undoubtedly, the Green Harp fans are dissatisfied with what the team is offering this season, specifically in the Elite Asian Champions League.

While the fans were expected to fill the stands, which accommodate more than 15,000 spectators, Police fans did not attend the match, except for dozens who decided to support the team and not leave it alone. However, this attendance was not sufficient to motivate the players of the Green Harp.
