The coaching staff of the Moroccan national team announced the call-up of Youssef Belammri, a player from Raja Club Athletic, to join the 'Atlas Lions' squad participating in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Morocco.

This decision comes following the exclusion of captain Romain Saiss from the squad, after it was confirmed that he could not continue competing due to the injury he sustained during the opening match against the Comoros national team.

Saiss underwent thorough medical examinations after the match, which showed that he needed a period of rest and treatment, prompting the medical team to recommend not risking him for the remainder of the tournament.

Belammri's inclusion is expected to be a technical addition to coach Walid Regragui's options, as the Moroccan team seeks to continue its campaign steadily and strongly compete for the continental title in front of its home fans.
