Manchester City's complaint freezes Al-Nassr's transfers

FIFA surprised Al-Nassr fans with the decision to suspend the club from registering players, following unexpected legal developments related to its relationship with English club Manchester City.

FIFA issued its decision to impose a one-time registration ban following an official complaint filed by Manchester City, due to Al-Nassr's failure to pay an overdue financial installment.

The Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah explained that the crisis stems from the transfer deal of Spanish defender Aymeric Laporte, who joined Al-Nassr in the summer of 2023 coming from the English champions.

Sources indicated that Manchester City demanded the payment of 9 million euros, representing one of the installments of the deal, after the due date for payment on August 31 passed without fulfillment.

FIFA has decided to ban Al-Nassr from registering new players until the outstanding amount is settled, a move that has disrupted the club's plans for the upcoming period.

The newspaper confirmed that Al-Nassr's management is able to lift the penalty as soon as the required amount is paid, which will reopen the registration window without having to wait for the suspension period.

It is worth mentioning that Al-Nassr later sold Aymeric Laporte's contract to Athletic Bilbao during the last summer transfer window.
